Abstract
This phenomenological study highlighted the perceptions of female educational leaders concerning the presence of executive loneliness when individuals transitioned from a teaching position to a leadership position. The study examined the perceptions of female educators as to the impact executive loneliness has on leader effectiveness, health and well-being, and longevity in the profession. The sample for this study was female educational leaders who have transitioned from a teaching position to a leadership position within the same organization. Using a phenomenological approach, each selected female educator participated in an in-depth interview and the researcher transcribed, coded, and synthesized the interviews in an effort to understand the shared experiences of female educators concerning executive loneliness.
