Abstract

Drug and alcohol addiction is a growing disease of concern in society. There is also a lack of evidence regarding the contribution that occupational therapy (OT) can offer this particular population. Due to the varying needs of the individuals and the occupational disturbances that are a central component of addiction (Martin et al., 2015), diverse focus areas of OT could provide a more holistic provision of services to build life skills needed for improved self-sufficiency for sustained sobriety.
