Abstract
Active video games (AVGs) were initially created for younger audiences to promote active play in a home environment using gaming consoles. The healthcare field has found AVGs to be an engaging new platform for all ages. AVGs in treatment interventions have become increasingly popular in rehabilitation practice settings over the years (Levac et al., 2018). With over 40 million adults experiencing physical impairments, therapeutic gaming may provide innovative interventions that implement motivation and physical function for the adult population (CDC, 2018). The purpose of the Doctoral Capstone project was to develop a resource, the Nintendo Wii Program Manual, to help occupational therapists within a rehabilitation setting utilize the Nintendo Wii console as a therapeutic tool alongside traditional therapy.
