Abstract
Three Seventeen is a young adult fantasy novel comprised of approximately 90,000 words. The story is presented in a third person limited point of view and relates the experiences of collegiate Logan Michaels' turbulent 21st year of life. It addresses themes such as isolation, finding an identity, learning to trust others, developing a belief system and the possibility of redemption. The novel has a circular construction, ending at the same point in the main character's life at which it began twelve months earlier. During the course of the plot, Logan exhibits signs of growth and development. Though the ending can be considered tragic, a glimmer of hope can be found in Logan's potential for change.
