Abstract
This study investigates the relationship between sexual complexity and sexual guilt, and self-importance of identity and sexual guilt. Data analysis on sample (N=105) revealed the existence of a relationship between self-importance of the identity heterosexuality and sexual guilt, and between sexual complexity of gender identity and sexual guilt, but not for any other identity categories. Individuals who place a high self-importance on the identity heterosexuality are more likely to experience the highest levels of sexual guilt. Individuals who view their gender identity as “Very Complex” experience the lowest levels of sexual guilt. Further, the study provides an attempt at an exhaustive demographic questionnaire for the categories: biological sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, and personal identity. This study finds a full representation of identities and establishes that biological sex and gender identity cannot be viewed interchangeably.
