Abstract

This study examined the current literature regarding homeschool families. Past research has covered many aspects of the homeschool movement: reasons why parents choose to homeschool, the benefits of homeschooling, academic achievement in homeschool, and more. However, there is a lack of scholarly work on the parental perspective of homeschooled children’s socialization skills. Twelve parents of homeschooled children volunteered for telephone interviews and were asked to provide their perception of their child’s socialization levels. The demographic data of the participants in this study is consistent with previous research. An analysis of this study shows evidence that homeschooling parents are active in providing opportunities for child socialization.
