Abstract
This qualitative study highlighted the perceptions of high school principals on the utilization of block scheduling in Arkansas public high schools. While block scheduling is not the prevalent model of scheduling in the state, many schools continue to experience success using this schedule. By interviewing principals, this study uncovered the factors needed in order to make utilizing this schedule effective. This study examines both the benefits and disadvantages of block scheduling and adds to the existing body of knowledge concerning block schedules. As new standards are adopted and new measures of accountability are implemented in the upcoming years, block scheduling may once again become more common in Arkansas and throughout the United States.
