Abstract
Current educational materials utilized at White River Health are comprehensive, however could be overwhelming to women experiencing the stress that can be associated with the changes that follow birth and being a parent to a newborn. Women report that after receiving educational materials, they lack preparedness for the perinatal and do not feel competent in self or infant care. Following the review of current materials, it was determined that the use of web-based, virtual education in an easily accessible format and created to be health literate could improve the health of women and their children in the perinatal period. Further, creating resources that are individual and easily consumable can increase mothers’ perceived self competency.
