Abstract
The purpose of the doctoral capstone project was to create a program manual that could be utilized as an educational resource within the hospice setting to assist patient engagement in meaningful occupations. Hospice house staff and volunteers can utilize the manual to review the theoretical background of the program, occupational therapy's role in hospice, common diseases and deficits, and ways to assist patients when engaging in meaningful, self-chosen occupations. The manual serves as a tool to advocate for occupational therapy in hospice and a guide for intervention within the hospice setting.
