Abstract
Establishing community and support for pediatric hematology and oncology Advanced Practice Providers can be challenging. Asynchronous working schedules, lack of protected time, and geographical distance hinder these efforts. Extending professional support and collaboration to providers is vital to ensure communication, interprofessional teaming, and collaborative care of the high-acuity patient population. Given the availability of virtual forums, this project explores the ability of a virtual, synchronous Community of Practice (VCoP) to enhance interprofessional collaboration for affiliated Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). This project utilizes the validated Assessment of Interprofessional Team Collaboration II (AITCS-II) to assess pre- and post-intervention interprofessional collaboration via a one-group pre- and post-test. Based on an alpha value of 0.05, the p-value of all interprofessional collaboration subcategories and overall was greater than 0.05, which indicates the null hypothesis cannot be rejected. However, analysis with the validated AITCS scoring sheet demonstrated significant clinical impact with collaboration improvement in all categories. Thus, the utilization of VCoPs to enhance APP interprofessional collaboration warrants additional investigation and consideration
