FROM THE DIRECTOR
Welcome to A-State Theatre’s production of Starkid’s The Trail to Oregon. We are excited to bring this hilarious and adventurous musical to life on stage for all of you. However, before we begin, please note that this is an irreverent musical comedy with language and situations unsuited for younger audiences or sensitive viewers.
This production is a unique take on the classic video game The Oregon Trail, where you ‘choose your own adventure’ and face different challenges on the way to Oregon. As I approached this production, images of Gun Smoke, Bonanza, and Davy Crockett played throughout my imagination as they tuned into the boardwalk caricatures of the “wild frontier.”
As you watch the show, we invite you to immerse yourself in the experience fully. You will be asked to participate during the show, so feel free to name your favorite characters, laugh out loud at the unexpected twists, and even decide who will or will not make it to Oregon. We encourage you to let go of any inhibitions and allow yourself to be transported on a wild journey through the Old West.
Our talented cast has worked countless hours to ensure that each performance is full of energy, laughter, and surprises. The creative team has also added their personal touches to the production, making it a truly unique experience. From the playful musical direction, impressive set design, creative costumes, and spirited lighting and sound, every aspect of the show has been carefully crafted to create a one-of-a-kind performance.
