UPCOMING PRODUCTIONS
Little Women
Set in 1860s America, this powerful musical chronicles the coming-of-age journey of four young women during the turmoil of the Civil War. Based on Louisa May Alcott’s wildly popular semiautobiographical novel, our fall musical production will be Alan Knee, Jason Howland, and Mindi Dickstein’s adaptation of “Little Women.” November 11 and 18-19 at 7:30 pm and November 13 at 2:00 pm. Drama Theatre. Tickets are $12-17.
Considering Matthew Shepard
A-State Theatre and Choirs will present a musical and theatrical masterwork about the life and tragic death of Matthew Shepard outside of Laramie, WY in 1998. The work itself takes the shape of a secular oratorio, but with narrators, choir, solo singers, and dancers. As the story unfolds, the audience is asked to ‘consider’ our own commonalities with the many characters, their joys and sorrows, gifts and flaws. October 7 at 7:30 pm and October 9 at 2 pm. Riceland Hall. Tickets are $8-10.
Peter and the Starcatcher
This inventive adaptation completely reimagines the origin story of one of the world’s most beloved children’s books. Rick Elice’s “Peter and the Starcatcher” is a prequel for the familiar characters of the classic “Peter Pan.” February 17-18 and 24-25 at 7:30 pm. Drama Theatre. Tickets are $10-15.
The Trail to Oregon
An irreverent musical satire based on the famous educational video game, “The Oregon Trail.” “The Trail to Oregon” by Jeff Blim, Matt Lang, and Nick Lang are part of the master satirist collective known as Starkid Productions. This musical parody will make you laugh until your ox dies of dysentery! April 14-15 and 21-22 at 7:30 pm. Simpson Theatre. Tickets are $12-17.
A-State student tickets are free at the box office with a student ID.
