Abstract
This phenomenological study highlighted the perceptions of Arkansas teacher who have exited the profession pre-retirement. The study examined the perceptions of former educators as to the impact of both organizational and personal factors on their decision to leave the profession. The sample for this study was former educators in Arkansas who left the profession pre-retirement. Using a phenomenological approach, each selected participant was involved in an in-depth interview and the researcher transcribed, coded, and synthesized the interviews in an effort to understand the shared experiences of former educators who exit the profession pre-retirement.
