Abstract

I’m dissecting toxic masculinity in society through the lens of chivalry, as shown in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Knights were held to a code of chivalry that they used to interact with others and to wage war, a code heavily on display within the text of Sir Gawain. I’ve expanded into the fields of psychology, biology, and warfare to determine if there is a link between ancient chivalry and how men act today.
