Abstract
The A-State Speech and Debate team focuses on real world communication, argumentation, and persuasion skills. We compete in numerous competitions like Arkansas Student Congress, International Public Debate Association tournaments, and Forensic Championships. Our main focus is creating an inclusive environment for students to build skills applicable and necessary for fields like politics, education, law, psychology, and media. These skills include writing and delivering speeches, bill writing, critical thinking, scholarly research, conflict management, and much more. Overall, the students on the A-State Debate team are passionate about communication and its application in day to day life. These students work diligently to stay informed and educated in and out of the class room.
